Hola! I'm olasconola 〰️
by SambaRanthony
You can greet me and say hello all you want - it means 'waves with Ola.' My name means 'a wave' - the water one - in Spanish.
olasconola (Ola Mazzuca) is a Toronto born-and-raised multimedia journalist, curator, radio host and selectress. Her sets embody records that evoke the ebb and flow of life, weaving stories of heritage, experience and emotion in every auditory wave. From wax heirlooms to local and global branches of soulful, funky, raw and introspective styles, olasconola's crates resonate with infinite connectivity.
This knowledge and experience stem from a unique and eclectic blend of cultural and ancestral roots, alongside decades of contributions to intersectional creative endeavours. Through her platform, Sonic Fold, olasconola hosts and produces two radio programs: Sound Travels, which features community cultivators and their layered, personal connections with music (broadcast monthly via residencies with Miami's Jolt Radio, and Toronto's Another Setting Radio), and The Fold, a live artist interview series on Frisson Radio (CIUT 89.5 fm).
She is also the co-founder of Sonic Sancocho, a collective celebrating Latin music, culture and cuisine, and half of the print matter publisher + DJ duo, Trust The Process Press. Previously, she held residency within Half Moon Radio (Brooklyn, NY) with her monthly show, Antique Rules. Ola has spun records and produced events at an array of venues across her hometown of Toronto including The Little Jerry, Drom Taberna and Standard Time amongst numerous others. Outside of the city, she frequently spins in Miami, Florida, and has shared music with active listeners in Detroit, New York and Montreal.

TRUST THE PROCESS PRESS
Co-Founder, Operations Manager | Explore
Trust The Process Press (TTPP) is an independent print matter project by Ola Mazzuca and Rhandy Adolphe. The creative imprint is an extension of Ola’s multimedia journalism platform, Sonic Fold, and Rhandy’s artistic identity as SAMBARanthony. Both combine and express their mutual passion for the arts, community building and exploring new places. TTPP is a means for them to share these ideas and experiences alongside readers near and far. Their zine, MiBoSo, lives in bookstores and third spaces in Toronto, Miami and New York. Both journalists by trade, as a DJ duo, they take pride in being thoughtful curators and selectors of international music that sparks conversation and curiosity — sounds that foster connection and collaboration, honour heritage, while fueling movement.
Their latest project is Afro Brasilica, a multidisciplinary creative residency hosted at CONTXT by Trane in Toronto - Thursdays at 7 pm.
